Last month's domestic shipments of white goods such as refrigerators and air purifiers amounted to more than 190 billion yen, up 16% from the same month last year and increasing for the fifth straight month.

The main reason for this is the increase in so-called nesting demand due to the state of emergency of the new coronavirus.

According to the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association, the domestic shipment value of white goods last month was more than 191.5 billion yen, which was 16.4% higher than the same month last year.

Shipments have exceeded the same month of the previous year for the fifth straight month since October last year.

By product, shipments of large shipments

increased by

18.2% for refrigerators and washing machines, and

by 12.5% for air conditioners.

In addition,

▽ hot plates increased by 66%,

▽ humidifiers

increased by

62.3%,

▽ vacuum cleaners increased by 30.5%, and

▽ air purifiers shipped twice as much as last year.

The main factors are the growing demand for nesting people at home and the desire to keep the inside of the house clean due to the continued emergency declaration of the new coronavirus.

Regarding the outlook for the future, the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association said, "Although the state of emergency has been lifted, life will not immediately return to the front of Corona, and demand will continue to rise to a certain extent."
