"Dubai International Financial" joins the Global Alliance of International Financial Centers

The Dubai International Financial Center announced that the Board of Directors of the "Global Alliance of International Financial Centers", the non-profit organization registered in Brussels, Belgium, unanimously approved the application to join the alliance.

The center said in a statement today that it will use its membership in the alliance to cooperate with other leading global financial centers, which include: London, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, and Toronto.

"Dubai International Financial" affirmed that, in line with its vision of leading the future of the financial sector, effective cooperation between members of the alliance will be closely linked with the acceleration of the application of modern technologies in the sector.

Emphasis will also be placed on many other areas in the sector, including promoting the adoption of the objectives of the Dubai International Financial Vision in the areas of corporate governance, social and environmental responsibility, to support the sustainable economic growth of the financial sector in the future.

According to the statement, the “Global Alliance of International Financial Centers” was established in July 2018 to represent global financial centers and to facilitate cooperation and financial exchanges between them.


The alliance currently represents 19 international financial centers, affiliated with government agencies, organizations and financial institutions in four continents that seek to consolidate and promote the status of their financial centers in the sector.

The Chairman of the Global Alliance of International Financial Centers, Jennifer Reynolds, expressed her confidence that the DIFC would add valuable contributions to the alliance's initiatives.

For his part, CEO of the DIFC Authority, Aref Amiri, said: “We look forward to representing Dubai in the Global Alliance of International Financial Centers, and building close partnerships with other members, to cooperate together in the interest of the global financial sector.”


He continued, "We are fully confident in our ability to advance together in several areas, including the financial technology sector, innovation, sustainable financing and digital economies. This opportunity will allow us to harmonize our work methodologies to facilitate our cooperation with the aim of optimizing the future of the financial sector."

In the same context, Dr. Jochen Biederman, Managing Director of the Global Alliance of International Financial Centers, said that "Dubai International Financial" has played its role as an observer in the alliance since last year, and we are pleased today to join the alliance and obtain full membership in it.


He emphasized that the Dubai International Financial Center was able to consolidate its position as one of the best global financial centers in less than 20 years of its inception.
