The Public Security Department of Liaoning Province held a press conference on March 16 to focus on cracking down on illegal crimes in the field of agricultural materials and the "Thunderstorm" Operation of Protecting Agriculture and Food (hereinafter referred to as the "Thunderstorm" Operation).

According to reports, the operation has achieved initial results. Up to now, 21 cases have been filed in the province, 17 criminal suspects have been arrested, and the total value of the cases involved is more than 35 million yuan (RMB).

  Food security has always been an important foundation of national security and has a bearing on the national economy, people's livelihood and social stability.

As a major food producing province, Liaoning severely cracked down on illegal and criminal activities in the field of agricultural materials.

In 2020, Liaoning Province has cracked 59 criminal cases involving agricultural materials and arrested 70 suspects, effectively deterring illegal and criminal activities involving agricultural materials.

  To this end, starting from January 2021, Liaoning has organized a one-year “thunderstorm” operation for protecting agriculture and food throughout the province.

Focus on urgently needed agricultural materials such as seeds, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers for spring farming, illegal occupation of agricultural land, and agricultural production materials such as agricultural implements, machinery, and mulch, and severely crack down on illegal production, infringement and counterfeiting, illegal additions, and impersonation of substandard products Agricultural illegal and criminal acts such as qualified products.
