Recently, the wind of raising salaries in the IT industry is blowing.

Amid the spread of a non-face-to-face culture, the IT industry's performance improves and it is difficult to bring in developers, so it is competing to raise salaries to secure talent.

Reporter Jeon Yeon-nam reported.

Starting with Nexon raising an annual salary of 8 million won for all employees last month, a wage increase domino phenomenon occurred in the game industry.

NCsoft raised an annual salary of 13 million won to developers and removed the upper limit on starting salary.

SK Telecom is also competing to strengthen compensation in the IT industry by paying 8 million won to all employees as a settlement payment for wage negotiations.

Due to the boom in the IT industry due to the non-face-to-face trend of Corona 19, developers became precious, and there was a competition to increase salary to secure manpower and prevent leakage.

It is an analysis that the MZ generation's tendency to demand fair distribution of performance is also met.

IT companies that have provided stock options, such as Naver and Kakao, have become embarrassed by the backlash from employees.

They said that they were rewarded with stocks to focus on future growth, but immediate cash may be more attractive to employees.

Naver founder Hae-jin Lee, head of global investment, said, "I am concerned about the aftereffects because the salary increase is being made too hastily and competitively without explaining the change and direction of the business."

This is particularly harsh for small and medium-sized IT companies.

[Small and medium-sized IT company developers: (annual salary) The rate of increase is very low.

I have to feel relatively deprived.

There is a trend of increasing number of people who decide to change jobs (it seems to be.)]

[Jung-geun Oh/Professor, Department of Economics, Konkuk University: Since we have not raised experts in the IT industry so far, there is no manpower due to the rapid spread of non-face-to-face with the corona era. The labor cost is going up because I want to scout (.)]

Policy efforts such as diversification of educational programs to foster developers are required.
