Millions of vaccine doses are piling up in Germany because the country is not complying with vaccination. On a seven-day average, the backlog is already around 3.2 million cans. So far, the vaccination centers manage around a million times a week. In the coming weeks, the problem is likely to worsen in view of further deliveries, if countermeasures are not taken. To this end, politicians and medical professionals are calling for two changes: a move away from prioritization and immediate vaccination in private practices. "We will certainly not have a vaccine left over," says Ulrich Weigeldt, the chairman of the German Association of General Practitioners. Only one dampens expectations.
