Today (7th), the government held a meeting of real estate-related ministers presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and announced measures to prevent recurrence.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong apologized to the public saying that it was a disastrous feeling that something unpleasant happened in public institutions, and said that if real estate speculation is confirmed in connection with this incident, he will take action according to the principle of zero tolerance, such as request for investigation and disciplinary measures.
In addition, they announced that they would consider introducing a regular monitoring system, such as the real estate registration system, which in principle restricts land transactions within a certain range and reports inevitable transactions within certain categories, saying that they will come up with fundamental countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
It also revealed a consistent policy for implementing the 2·4 real estate supply plan currently being promoted.
As speculation suspicions are growing, the government joint investigation team visited the LH headquarters in Jinju, Gyeongnam on the 5th and conducted field investigations for two days.
The investigation team has completed securing basic data such as employee personnel data necessary for investigating allegations of land speculation, and is expected to decide whether to conduct a face-to-face investigation of LH employees who have been suspicious of speculation after completing a land transaction investigation based on this.
The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters is also expected to establish a special investigation team for real estate speculators to investigate allegations of speculation by LH employees.
