Iranian nuclear: Tehran considers the time not "appropriate" for a meeting

Tehran said on Sunday February 28 that it did not consider the time “appropriate” for an informal meeting on the 2015 nuclear deal, proposed by Europe and including the United States.

In an attempt to save the Iran nuclear deal, the European Union proposed an unofficial meeting between the signatory countries a week ago.
The United States, which left the deal in 2018, reportedly participated as "guests".
US President Joe Biden had agreed in principle.
After several days of reflection, Iran has just rejected the idea of such a meeting.

The way is simple.
The United States must end its illegal sanctions and respect its commitments provided for in the nuclear agreement,
”said Saeed Khatibzadeh Saïd, spokesman for Iranian diplomacy.
He added that there was no need for a meeting for this.

All the more so as the United States must present a resolution to the IAEA Board of Governors, scheduled for Monday, to condemn Tehran's decision to limit its cooperation with the UN agency.
Earlier, the head of Iran's nuclear program asserted that if such a resolution were adopted, Iran would take concrete steps to respond to it, without giving further details.
It also comes after the military strikes by the United States against the positions of Iraqi militias supported by Tehran on the border between Iraq and Syria.
