The head of state assigns Omar Ahmed Suwaina al-Suwaidi to the duties of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him", issued a federal decree assigning His Excellency Omar Ahmed Suwaina Al Suwaidi to the duties of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
Omar Al-Suwaidi has important professional achievements during his career, especially in the policies of localization of vital supply and supply chains within the implementation of the local value-added program, and support for Emiratisation initiatives in the private sector in a way that contributed to promoting development and diversifying the national economy, and enhancing the competitiveness of the UAE regionally and internationally Through strategic partnerships and mega projects for investment and development in the energy field.
Prior to joining the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Al-Suwaidi held several leadership positions in the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), including the recently head of the Commercial Affairs and Local Value Added Department, the Head of the Executive Office Department, the Director of the Gas Management Department, and the Deputy Director of the Strategy and Coordination Department. Director of the Onshore Activities Department (Exploration and Production), as well as chairing the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.
Al Suwaidi will lead, through his accumulated experiences and close relations with the government and private sectors, a package of plans and initiatives to support, empower and develop the Emirati industry, enhance its contribution to the national economy, stimulate innovation and adopt advanced technology to upgrade industrial systems and solutions, enhance cooperation and integration between relevant authorities at the level of the UAE, and enhance content National empowerment of industrial enterprises (small, medium and large).
Al Suwaidi holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering from Colorado State University of Mines, in the United States.
