<Anchor> It is a

friendly economic time.

Today (25th) will be with reporter Kim Hye-min.

Reporter Kim, I'll just ask you something.

Have you ever wondered if you are a little happier or less happier after the coronavirus?

<Reporter>

I think I have become more unhappy because I had to stay at home.

<Anchor>

I think I was similar, but you said there was a result of surveying the happiness of these people?

Please explain.

<Reporter>

Yes, the second coronavirus pandemic swept through Korea from September to October last year.

At this time, I asked about 8,300 adult men and women how happy they are now.

You can give it from 0 to 10, but last year's average was 6.4.

Last year it was 6.5 points, so it's a little lower, the notable part is the percentage of people who gave a 10 out of 10 saying "I was very happy".

Last year it was 4.2%, but last year it dropped significantly to 1.5%.

From the national average, it can be seen that the number of people who are very happy became a little unhappy due to Corona 19, and a lot of people who were very happy were reduced.

The value of work, the stability of my own economic situation, and my health score all dropped little by little.

<Anchor> When

you hear this news, you may be somewhat comforted by saying "I wasn't the only one", but it's a little different when divided by generation.

<Reporter>

Yes, the Corona 19 aftermath has not made everyone equally unhappy.

It was having an even worse effect on the vulnerable groups.

First of all, regarding the economic situation, the generation before employment, in their 20s and already retired, in their 60s or older were the weak.

This is because the job market itself contracted due to Corona 19, and the operating ban continued, making it difficult to find even part-time jobs.

Those in their 30s and 40s who are already engaged in economic activities in earnest were relatively stable.

For them, the stability of the economic situation was no different from the previous year.

In terms of health status, elderly people in their 60s and older were vulnerable.

Only this generation answered that their health is worse than last year.

The other generations were not much different from the previous year.

In their thirties, they said they had a little better health than the previous year.

Elderly people are at high risk of corona infection, so their health is often deteriorated, while most of the people wear masks hard.

It seems that having less illness like a cold had an effect.

<Anchor> It

is said that women's happiness scores are lower than men's by gender. Why is this?

<Reporter>

Yes, I was also a little puzzled about this part. First of all, looking at the scores of men, the scores given to happiness and social status were the same as in the previous year, and the satisfaction of life rather rose slightly.

However, women scored lower on all three items.

Experts believe that this is because women are often employed in non-regular workers, which is more likely to be unemployed.

Another important part is that due to COVID-19, the family often stays at home together, and it is analyzed that the responsibility for housework and child rearing is more concentrated on women only.

Also, not only gender, but also different happiness felt according to household income.

If it was more than 5 million won, the happiness score of the previous year was maintained.

People with household incomes of less than 5 million won felt less happier than last year.

Finally, my pride as a Korean citizen has grown.

It is said that this was the result.

<Reporter>

Yes, among these questions, there was a question,'Am I proud to be a Korean citizen?'

I was told to score from 1 to 4, but the average was 3.1.

It was 2.9 points last year.

It's been higher than then, and it's the highest score since 2013, when this survey was first started.

In addition, the level of satisfaction with the political, economic and democratic levels all increased, which was also the highest level since the survey.

In particular, the place where the score rose significantly in institutional reliability was noticeable.

It was medical institutions and local governments.

After the spread of Corona 19, my gratitude for the medical staff who are sweating for the people without rest until now has grown.

In addition, confidence in local governments that provided close support in close proximity such as public health centers and community centers has also improved.
