The "Gulfood Innovation Awards", which focus in its current session on future trends, enjoyed strong competition to win its various categories, as the awards were awarded to a group of companies specialized in the food and beverage sector, from various regions of the Middle East, India, Eastern and Central Europe, and the United States. A statement issued yesterday stated that the prizes were distributed during the current session of the Gulfood 2021 exhibition, the first direct event to be held in the food and beverage sector since February 2020, while the prizes of the current session attracted 250 participants from 44 countries, in a move that highlights Global confidence in the exhibition.

The director of the Gulfood 2021 exhibition, Marc Napier, said that the challenges that the world faced, over the past 12 months, contributed to presenting many opportunities, to which food and beverage producers around the world responded with determination and innovation.

What we have witnessed after the spread of the (Covid-19) crisis is nothing but clear evidence of the tremendous transformation that affects the entire global sector, especially through healthy, organic and environmentally sustainable solutions, which have topped innovation agendas around the world. ”

Innovative packaging

The UAE has been at the forefront of sustainability efforts. Dubai-based Hunter Foods Limited won the “Most Innovative Packaging Product” award for its fully recyclable packaging solution for its organic superfood chain.

Sustainable product

The Emirates Food Group award was given the "Best Sustainable Product" award, thanks to the 500 milliliters of fully biodegradable and fully biodegradable and turned into fertilizer, thanks to the eye water bottles made of plant materials and completely free of plastic materials with a capacity of 500 milliliters.

Indian companies

In turn, Indian companies got their share of awards as well;

An innovative drink

In a move that highlighted the international reputation of the awards, "Tertulia Brugge" from Costa Rica won the "Most Innovative Drink" award thanks to the chocolate powder sweetened with the "monk" fruit, which is a natural substitute for sugar and is more than 200 times sweeter than regular sugar.

Dairy product

For its part, Eastern Europe proved its leadership in the food and beverage sector, with the "Hungarian Fino Foods Company" winning the "Most Innovative Dairy Product" award, thanks to its white cheese without dairy products.

The award for "Most Innovative Frozen and Chilled Food" went to the liquid egg products of "Ofostar Union Ltd." from Ukraine, which it presented in modern "Pure Pack" recyclable containers made from certified wood sources.

From Poland, “Yogurti Magda Yogurt” confirmed the leadership of the Eastern region of Europe, by winning the “Most Innovative Organic Product” award, thanks to the low-fat coconut yogurt made from natural materials.

Halal product

In addition, the «Boxsa Beverages Company Ltd.» from Austria, which promotes an alcohol-free lifestyle, won the award for the “most innovative halal product”, thanks to the traditional Boska Romana drink, which is based on all natural ingredients, and is distinguished by its ability to revitalize the body and rejuvenate Its vitality.

At the same time, "Beyond Meat" from the United States was able to win the "Most Innovative Meat and Chicken Product" award, thanks to ready-to-cook meatballs made of plant materials.

Tightening protocols

Given the great importance of displaying product samples and handling foodstuffs, during the activities of the international food and beverage sector, the protocols in effect in the 2021 Gulfood edition have been tightened, in full coordination with the Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Municipality, to ensure safe conditions for visitors and participants in the exhibition.

Wearing masks and respecting the principles of social distancing is mandatory during the event, along with adopting non-contact dealings, to ensure the health and safety of attendees.
