In order to meet the needs of people who feel that their home is small and there is no space for teleworking, a private railway group company in the Greater Tokyo Area has set up a prefabricated house on an idle land along the railroad track for work and hobbies. We have decided to start a service to rent out as a place.

This service is provided by Seibu Properties, a group company of Seibu Railway, and three prefabricated unit houses will be set up on idle land along the Seibu Shinjuku Line in Nerima-ku, Tokyo, and will be rented out to the general public from next month.

The unit house is equipped with air conditioner and toilet, and the 6 tatami mat room can be rented for 50,000 yen a month, and there is also a plan to use it on an hourly basis.

As a result of increasing the time spent at home due to the influence of the new coronavirus, people who feel that "home is small" or "have no place to live" are supposed to use it as a place to spend time for telework and hobbies, and the company is planning to use it as a railroad. The aim is to foster new sources of revenue that supplement the revenue of the business.

Asahide Saito, Managing Executive Officer, said, "The new Corona has increased the need for plus-alpha rooms, and we see this as an opportunity."

At railway companies, JR East is planning to set up a space for telework on the platform of the station on the Chuo Line, and Keihin Electric Express Railway is planning to start an experiment to rent a camper, and the efforts of each company are becoming active.
