Nippon Paper Industries, a major paper manufacturer, was affected by the earthquake that observed a seismic intensity of over 6 in Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures on the 13th of this month, causing damage to its factory in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, which produces newspapers, etc. It is expected that it will return to the level of the above in late May.

According to the announcement, the Iwanuma Plant has been shut down after the earthquake on the 13th of this month, but it has been confirmed that the ceiling and walls of the building have fallen and that some of the production equipment has been damaged.

The company plans to proceed with restoration work and restart operations sequentially from next month, but it is expected that production will return to the original level in late May.

The factories mainly produce newspapers, but we will supply them to our business partners by shipping inventory and increasing the production of newspapers at our factories in Hokkaido and Kumamoto.

In addition, we will ask other paper manufacturers for cooperation, so we will not affect the supply.
