Iran reacted to the statement by the heads of French, German, British and American diplomacy who asked Tehran on Thursday (February 18) to respect its commitments under the 2015 nuclear agreement by rejecting the threats.

The Iranian foreign minister responded to his European and American counterparts by saying that the United States must end the policy of maximum pressure which has been carried out by Donald Trump since 2018.

Mohammed Javad Zarif has not yet said anything about the idea of a meeting of the 5 + 1 group in the presence of the Americans, while Washington has said it is in favor of this possibility.
The United States announced a series of measures, including sending a letter to the Security Council to affirm that the international sanctions lifted after
the 2015 nuclear deal
still are.
A gesture of good will that cancels a decision of the old administration.
Tehran is for the moment playing on the pressure to obtain the lifting of the American sanctions which hit its economy hard.

The United States has not reversed its policy and continues the policy of maximum pressure on Iran despite the fact that it has admitted that this policy had failed.
Europeans must know that pressure does not work with Iran and meaningless statements are of no use.
