"According to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, in January 2021, GDP decreased by -2.4% in annual terms (by the end of 2020, according to the first estimate of Rosstat, the decline was -3.1)," the TASS document is quoted as saying.

According to the ministry, support for GDP in early 2021 is provided by the recovery in consumer activity.

Earlier, the Bank of Russia retained its forecast for the country's GDP growth in 2021.

According to the regulator, GDP growth will be in the range of 3-4%.
