Dubai Economy reported that the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector closed the office of a travel agent in the Business Bay area selling Corona inspection services, and promoting them cautiously through the instant messaging application “WhatsApp”, which is an explicit violation of commercial activity, indicating that the sale "Covid-19" examination services are within the competence of medical facilities licensed by the Ministry of Health and the Dubai Health Authority.

Dubai Economy explained, in a statement yesterday, that after receiving a note from a consumer of the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector team for not being satisfied with the quality of the home inspection service for "Covid-19", the Commercial Control Team collected information about the service provider and tracked the mechanism used to promote the service. Where it was found that the service provider is a travel and tourism office that receives the customer’s requests through a commercial “WhatsApp” account. The customers are asked to choose the appropriate date, fill in their data, attach copies of passports through an electronic link, and then pay electronically for the service.

She added that the office was closed and the Health Authority was provided with information related to the laboratories cooperating with the violator.

The Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Dubai Economy, Abdulaziz Al-Tanak said: “The inspection teams of the commercial control and consumer protection sector in the Dubai economy monitor the markets, and carefully investigate any remarks made by consumers, to ensure that commercial establishments adhere to commercial laws, and to maintain the integrity Consumers and their rights, especially in this period that requires concerted efforts to limit the spread of the "Covid-19" virus.

Al-Tanak stressed: “We will not hesitate to violate any commercial establishment trying to exploit the circumstances of the pandemic (Corona) to gain in violation of the laws, and we ask all commercial establishments to abide by the laws and regulations, as the inspection teams are continuing to conduct intensive field monitoring campaigns in all regions of the emirate.”
