Polish studio CD Projekt Red announced on Tuesday that it had been targeted by a computer attack.

The hackers recovered internal documents as well as the source code of some games.

A new blow for the company, already in turmoil after the catastrophic launch of Cyberpunk 2077, its latest highly anticipated video game.

The dark year continues for CD Projekt Red.

The Polish studio, already in great difficulty after the chaotic release of its latest video game,

Cyberpunk 2077

, announced on Tuesday that it had been the victim of a cyberattack.

"We discovered (Monday) that we were affected by a targeted computer attack, during which some of our internal systems were compromised," CD Projekt explained on his Twitter account.

Hackers, who have stolen sensitive internal documents and code from several games, blackmail the studio.

CD Projekt will not negotiate with hackers

"People will see how shit your business is": this is the only claim of the thieves, expressed in a virtual note left on the servers of CD Projekt and made public by the studio.

In this word, the hackers claim to have recovered legal contracts, human resources documents or even the company's accounts.

Potentially sensitive documents but this is nothing compared to the real treasure of the pirates who have also stolen the source code of several games, including

The Witcher 3

and

Cyberpunk 2077

, the two major creations of CD Projekt.

A real gold mine that hackers now threaten to sell to the highest bidder.

They gave the Polish studio 48 hours to contact them, a deadline which therefore expires on Wednesday.

But CD Projekt has made it known that it will not negotiate.

"We are not going to comply with their requests and we are aware that this may lead to the publication of compromising data. We are doing everything to limit the scope of such a consequence, in particular with third parties who would be involved", affirmed the studio which also filed a complaint.

On the other hand, the personal data of the players would not risk anything.

Chaotic year for CD Projekt and

Cyberpunk 2077

This is not the first time that CD Projekt has been the victim of an attempted blackmail.

In 2017, criminals had already threatened to disclose elements in their possession relating to the game

Cyberpunk 2077

, then in gestation within the Polish studio.

At the time, the company had already refused to negotiate.

This time, the identity of the hackers was not revealed and their modus operandi, with this note left on a server, is intriguing.

An investigation is underway in Poland.

Bugs, controversies: catastrophic launch for

Cyberpunk 2077

Whatever happens, it's a new blow for the studio, already entangled in the

Cyberpunk 2077

scandal

, its last game released in December and in which, ironically, the hero is also a hacker.

A highly anticipated game that proved unplayable on most consoles due to major bugs.

As a result, in two months, CD Projekt's share fell by 40%, generating billions of euros in losses for investors.

On Tuesday, after the announcement of the hack, the price plunged again by 5%.
