  Zhu Peide, deputy director of the Railway Office of Jiangsu Province, introduced that the Lian-Xu high-speed railway is an important part of the land bridge channel of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network. It starts from Lianyungang City in the east and ends in Xuzhou City in the west. The main line is about 180 kilometers long. The preliminary design The total investment approved was RMB 26.59 billion, and the design speed was 350 kilometers per hour. Passenger stations in Lianyungang, Donghai County, Xinyinan, and Pizhou East were set up on the entire line, and Xuzhou East Station was eventually introduced.

  Zhu Peide said that the Lian-Xu high-speed rail has completed the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network, and is a key section that connects the horizontal land bridge passage and the vertical coastal passage.

After the project is opened to traffic, the eastern traffic corridor of the “Belt and Road” will be further expanded, and the eastern bridgehead of the new Eurasian Continental Bridge, Lianyungang and the areas along the route, will be closely connected with the central and western regions and even Central Asia.

  Zhu Peide said that after the opening of the Xuhui high-speed rail, the northern Jiangsu high-speed rail formed the "iron triangle", and the five cities in northern Jiangsu entered a new era.

The Lian-Xu High-speed Railway, Lianyan Railway, Xusu Huaiyan Railway, and Lianhuai Railway have jointly built the "iron triangle" high-speed rail network in northern Jiangsu, bringing new opportunities, providing solid support, and injecting strength into the new era for the five cities in northern Jiangsu power.

  He stated that the Lian-Xu high-speed rail is the "last stroke" in the formation of the "three vertical and four horizontal" high-speed rail network proposed in the "13th Five-Year Plan" of Jiangsu Province. The Jiangsu Railway will form a "connecting Longhai in the north, Shanghai-Nanjing in the south, and a western connection. "Beijing, Shanghai and Dongqi Jianghai" brand new pattern.

  Lu Yuquan, deputy general manager of Jiangsu Railway Group, said that after the Lian-Xu high-speed railway was put into operation, Jiangsu has built 4,204 kilometers of railways, including 2,215 kilometers of high-speed railways; and 486 kilometers of railways under construction, including Nanyanjiang Intercity Railway and Ninghuai Intercity Railway 3 railways including the Shanghai-Suhu Railway.
