"I will discuss with my colleagues - with the US Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of the Economy and the Secretary of Energy - all the issues as soon as they are approved by Congress," RIA Novosti quoted Altmayer.

According to him, on the topic of "Nord Stream - 2" and the threat of sanctions in the German government "closely cooperated" at the level of the ministries of economy, finance and foreign affairs.

“I think that we will coordinate positions and conduct the necessary negotiations together,” he added.

Earlier, the Handelsblatt newspaper reported that the United States had expressed its readiness to start a dialogue on lifting sanctions from the gas pipeline project.

As noted by the publication, the condition for this is the submission of proposals by Germany, which will eliminate US concerns about the project.

The State Department said that the United States plans to monitor the process of completing the construction of Nord Stream 2 and decide on sanctions in this regard.
