China News Service, Beijing, February 2 (Reporter Wang Enbo) The reporter learned from the National Development and Reform Commission of China on the 2nd that in order to ensure the pork market supply in 2021, as of January 28 (the 16th of the twelfth lunar month), relevant parties have organized 7 batches of central reserve freezes. The total amount of pork put on the market has reached 180,000 tons.

At present, a large number of frozen pork to be put into the central reserve is "on the road", and will continue to be put out after the Spring Festival to the two sessions to continue to ensure market supply.

In order to further meet the public's pork consumption demand during the Spring Festival, the National Development and Reform Commission and relevant departments have continuously organized the central reserve of frozen pork.

On December 17, 2020, the first batch of 20,000 tons of central reserve frozen pork was put on the market, and the transaction was in good condition.

Since then, it has been continuously put in at a rhythm of 20,000 to 30,000 tons per week.

On February 2, the Huashang Reserve Commodity Management Center issued an announcement, announcing that it will be listed on February 4 (the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month) and February 9 (the twenty-eighth of the twelfth lunar month) to put 30,000 tons of central reserve frozen pork each. This is the eighth and ninth batch of releases recently organized by the state.

Various places are also launching sales terminals.

According to incomplete statistics, as of now, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Jinan City, Qingdao City, Zibo City, Weifang City, Shandong Province, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, Jiangsu Province, Nantong City, Yangzhou City, Gansu Province, Lanzhou City, and Longnan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Yinchuan City, Guizhou Province, Wuhan City in Hubei Province, Kunming City in Yunnan Province and other places have started to put them in. There will be more places to put reserve meat before the Spring Festival.

Locally stocked meat is mainly sold directly to citizens in terminal outlets such as supermarkets and cheap stores, and the price is usually lower than the market price.

For example, in Jiangsu Province, 113 sales outlets in 13 districts and cities across the province put cold fresh meat at slightly lower than market prices.

The analysis pointed out that the release of national and local reserves of meat has effectively increased market supply, provided consumers with more choices of affordable and reliable quality, and effectively stabilized market prices.

Judging from the seasonal trend in previous years, pork prices usually maintain an upward trend before the Spring Festival.

Entering December 2020, driven by the pork consumption season, pork prices have risen in a wave. The retail price of pork (lean meat) in supermarkets in 36 large and medium-sized cities has risen from RMB 27.5 per catty (500 grams) to this year. 30.36 yuan per catty on January 21.

With the joint release of national and local reserves of meat, pork prices stabilized and fell slightly in late January. On February 2, the price of lean meat in large and medium-sized cities averaged 29.96 yuan per catty, down 1.3% from 10 days ago and 12% year-on-year. It is expected that as more places start to put in reserve meat, pork prices may continue to fall slowly. (Finish)
