As the effects of the new coronavirus continue, the restaurant that served local beer in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture will close on the 31st due to a decrease in the number of customers.

The restaurant that will be closed is "Navy's Brewery" in Nakadori, Kure.

The restaurant, which opened in May 1996, has been loved by citizens and tourists for over 20 years.

Using local underground water at the brewing facility of the restaurant, Kure produced a local beer called "Navy's Beer" after it was a military port of the former Navy, and sold it at souvenir shops in the prefecture and on the Internet. ..

According to the operating company, sales were sluggish due to the effects of the heavy rains in western Japan three years ago and equipment failures, but the number of users decreased due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and there is no prospect of attracting customers in the future. It means that we decided to close the store.

The operating company will also be dissolved by the end of this month, and the beer brewing equipment will be sold.

A 25-year-old man from Nagasaki said, "I'm sad that I can't buy local beer."

Masaharu Sasaki, director and manager of the restaurant, said, "It's a pity that people who enjoy craft beer can't smile, but now I'm just grateful."
