Fast appointments, shorter waiting times and better treatment in an emergency: Millions of people have taken out private health insurance in the hope of privileges in medical care.

But of all things, they temporarily lost their special status in the Corona crisis.

The plight of the health system and economic pressures are waning the benefits.

"Before Corona we are all the same," says the private health insurance association.

The same applies to those with private health insurance as to those with statutory health insurance, strictly according to medical necessity.

The rest of the supply remains unchanged.

This is only the half truth.

In some cases, those with private insurance even have disadvantages.
