Amazon opens a distribution center at Schiphol.

The company reports on Monday that it wants to meet the growing demand.

The new hall offers two hundred people a workplace.

Parcels come from Amazon's warehouses and sorting centers in, for example, France and Germany to the new distribution point and then go by delivery van to customers in Amsterdam and the surrounding area.

According to Amazon, demand is picking up strongly in that region in particular.

Deliverers from PostNL, DHL Netherlands and Red je Pakketje will take care of the delivery, but Amazon will soon also offer work to 450 parcel deliverers who work via independent courier companies.

Amazon expects to process thousands of parcels per day at the delivery center.

The company makes no statements about the costs of the delivery center.

It is also not yet known whether delivery centers will be added in the Netherlands.
