It is a desperate call for help that “Haus Waldblick” in Marburg, Hesse, sends off in mid-December: Almost all residents of the nursing home have been infected with the corona virus, the staff are also sick or have to be quarantined.
Only two nurses are still on duty.
One resident is said to have been lying dead in bed for several days because no one could take care of the body.
Even before the corona pandemic, there was a personnel emergency in many old people's and nursing homes. However, this could mostly be covered up with overtime and tightly timed duty rosters. Now the situation is worsening dramatically.
