Bridgestone employees are fixed.

An agreement on employee severance pay has just been reached between unions and management.

Last September, the Japanese tire manufacturer announced the closure of the Béthune plant leaving 863 employees on the sidelines.

A real social earthquake in the region.

Suddenly, to leave the factory with dignity, the unions hoped to negotiate the best possible social plan with management.

Each employee will leave on average with 106,000 euros

"This agreement provides, in addition to the legal indemnity, a supra legal indemnity consisting of a lump sum and an increase per year of seniority", explains the management of Bridgestone in a press release, Concretely, as revealed by France 3 Hauts-de-France, the tire manufacturer has put 110 million euros in the PSE to which must be added 80 million supra legal premiums.

Each dismissed employee will leave with 46,500 euros in compensation, plus 2,500 euros per year of seniority, or 106,000 euros on average per employee.

Of the 863 employees, 100 will go on pre-retirement.

The others will be able to benefit from a 24-month training course.

The management specifies that "the discussions (on the PSE) will continue in the coming days on the last subjects remaining to be treated on the support of external reclassifications".

As for the Béthune plant, it will close its doors for good on May 3.
