Cuisine using so-called Nagoya food ingredients such as "Nagoya Cochin" and "Hatcho Miso" has been certified as space food by JAXA = Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

It is expected to be provided to astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, who is planning to stay at the International Space Station from this spring.

The space food certified is a new dish developed by Sagami Holdings, a Japanese food chain in Nagoya City, in collaboration with a food manufacturer in Shizuoka Prefecture and a university in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Ingredients such as the local chicken "Nagoya Cochin" are simmered in "Hatcho Miso", a specialty of Aichi Prefecture, and this month, it was certified by JAXA = Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

In addition to adjusting the strength of the taste so that it can be eaten deliciously even at room temperature, since most space foods are liquid foods, the time to boil them is devised so that they can be chewy.

This space food is expected to be provided to astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, who is planning to stay at the International Space Station for a long time from this spring.

Sagami Holdings, which has developed the product, says, "While there is no bright topic about the new coronavirus, we would like to use it as an opportunity to boost the food service industry as a whole.
