In response to the tight supply and demand of electricity due to the effects of the cold, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has begun to examine issues such as the outlook for electricity demand and the procurement of fuel for thermal power generation at a committee of experts.
At the meeting on the 19th, the subcommittee of the "Comprehensive Resources and Energy Study Group" began verification work in response to the tight supply and demand of electricity in various parts of the country.
Among them, the person in charge of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
▽ happened in various places that exceeded the electricity demand set assuming the cold once every 10 years, and
▽ LNG = liquefied natural gas for thermal power generation. He said that the factors were the decrease in gas inventory and the decrease in power generation.
On the other hand, the committee members said that
▽ a mechanism to appropriately procure LNG etc. is necessary so that the power generation company does not run out of fuel,
▽ a new entry called "new electricity" due to the soaring wholesale price of electricity. There was an opinion that it is necessary to reconsider the mechanism of the wholesale market because the procurement cost of the retail business is high and the electricity price paid by the customer may rise.
