It has been decided that the insurance premium for automobile liability insurance, which is obligatory for those who own a car or motorcycle, will be reduced by an average of 6.7% from the contract in April.

This is because traffic accidents are decreasing due to the spread of safety technologies such as automatic braking and the influence of refraining from going out due to the spread of infection with the new coronavirus.

Automobile liability insurance is compulsory insurance that people with automobiles and motorcycles are obliged to take out in case of a traffic accident, and the Council of the Financial Services Agency examines whether the premium is appropriate every year.

At the council meeting held online on the 18th, accidents have decreased due to the spread of safety technologies such as automatic braking and the influence of refraining from going out due to the spread of infection with the new coronavirus, and insurance payments have decreased more than expected. Therefore, it has been decided that the contract amount for April will be reduced by an average of 6.7%.

As a result, in the case of areas other than remote islands and Okinawa prefecture, the insurance premium for compulsory automobile liability is a general two-year contract.
