Produced locally in the Shanghai plant alongside the Model 3, the Tesla Model Y was a resounding success from the first days of its marketing.
Delivery times run in the 2nd quarter, or even in the 3rd quarter of the year for a Performance version.
According to some analysts, this craze for the car is explained by its sale price 30% cheaper than announced, which allows Chinese customers to afford a high-end Model Y for less than € 50,000.
However, delivery times should still improve as the pace of the Shanghai plant will increase during the year and the new production unit located near Berlin will start operations next March.
