Kyocera manufactures chemical materials used in semiconductor products and motors, but when shipping, it has acquired the "UL standard" safety certification conducted by a third-party organization in the United States in order to appeal its quality.

According to the announcement, for the six certified products, although the materials used have changed since then, there have been inappropriate responses such as submitting samples when the certification was obtained.

These six products are supplied to 160 companies in Japan and overseas, and the annual sales are about 7 billion yen.

The chemical materials business was acquired by Kyocera from Toshiba in 2002.

At the factory in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, which manufactures these products, an employee reported an inappropriate response, and the situation was discovered.

The company has set up an investigation committee consisting of outside lawyers and quality control experts to investigate in detail.

Kyocera commented, "We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and concern to those involved."
