Biologically, the matter is clear: women should have children between the ages of 20 and 25. “They have the best physical conditions to carry a healthy baby to term,” says Björn Horstkamp. “At 35 the curve sags a lot. It becomes difficult from 40 onwards. ”Horstkamp knows what he is talking about. He is a reproductive medicine specialist. Hundreds of women come to his practice on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm every year who want children but cannot get them naturally. The doctor has identified a pattern among his patients: They have worked a lot and have repeatedly postponed their desire to have children for their careers. But women who are primarily wondering about the right time to have a child have the wrong focus in Katharina Wrohlich's eyes.
