On Europe 1, Philippe Etchebest deplored the difficulties for restaurateurs to receive the aid put in place by the government.

And the chef is not surprised by the probable non-reopening of establishments on January 20.

“It was obvious,” he says.

INTERVIEW

As for restaurateurs, the time has come for resignation.

While the coronavirus epidemic continues to affect the entire territory, with nearly 20,500 new cases recorded in 24 hours on Tuesday, the prospect of reopening restaurants on January 20 is receding.

And the sector fears many business failures, despite the aid offered by the State, which also remains for some complicated to obtain, according to the chief Philippe Etchebest, invited Tuesday from Europe 1.

For December, administratively closed businesses can in particular opt between monthly aid of up to 10,000 euros or compensation of up to 20% of monthly turnover, capped at 200,000 euros.

But Philippe Etchebest recalls that this aid does not necessarily apply to everyone.

For the 10,000 euros, "it was necessary to be within the eligibility thresholds, and not everyone is entitled to it," he explains.

The non-reopening on January 20?

"It was obvious"

And concerning the compensation of up to 20% of monthly turnover, "it was announced for December, the files should be available for consultation from January 4, but today, this is not the case . We are unable to access this declaration. We are still waiting ".

"Each time, on the 20% announced, there are always small lines that are added. And today, I can not guarantee that everyone is entitled to this 20%", he concludes.

Regarding the non-reopening of restaurants on January 20, Philippe Etchebest says he is not surprised.

"It was obvious," he said, "given the resumption of contaminations".

Before ironizing: "The positive thing is that we cannot be accused, we restaurateurs, of being responsible for what is happening today".
