Restaurant officials in the country said that the first semester vacation witnessed an increase in sales of restaurants in commercial centers (malls) in various emirates of the country, reaching 40%, compared to previous periods, supported by discounts campaigns and the preference of many families not to travel and spend the vacation in the country, in addition to the season Holidays and end-of-year holidays, noting at the same time that delivery orders and online orders also witnessed an increase of 30%.

They explained, to "Emirates Today", that Dubai witnessed the largest increases in sales, especially with the influx of visitors and tourists to spend the holidays, expecting that sales will continue to increase with the improvement of business and tourism.

A tour of "Emirates Today" in a number of commercial centers showed that there is an active movement in the restaurants of commercial centers, while the food courts in many centers raised a "full number" sign during the weekdays, especially during the noon until 10 pm.

In detail, Louay Ghandour, the managing director of the "Cravia" group, the parent company of four restaurants in the United Arab Emirates, said that "the first semester vacation, which ended last Thursday, witnessed a significant increase in the group's sales, estimated at about 40% in all branches of restaurants throughout the country." In shopping malls in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Al-Ain, compared to previous periods, overseas orders (delivery) also witnessed an increase of 30%, through ordering via apps or delivery number.

Ghandour added that "the promotional offers that coincided with the launch of the Dubai Shopping Festival, contributed to the revitalization of the movement of shopping and visiting restaurants within the commercial centers, especially during the weekends by families, during the holiday season (Christmas and New Year), and the school holiday."

He stressed that the commercial movement is positive in general, and expected this escalation in business to continue during the first quarter of the new year, supported by the movement of tourism.

For his part, the official of the brand in a famous chain of restaurants in the country, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, said, “There is an increase of more than 30% in sales in various branches in commercial centers in many emirates of the country, coinciding with the first semester vacation, especially since many families preferred not to travel. Abdul Hamid stated that there is also a noticeable increase in delivery and online sales of more than 25%, indicating that consumers have preferred to download applications and order online since the start of the Corona pandemic, in an indicator that seems to continue and will not change with the end of the pandemic.

Abdul Hamid stated that «the reductions witnessed by the commercial centers in many of the emirates of the country, led by Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as well as the festive season and holidays at the end of the year, which contributed to the increase in sales», pointing out that the Dubai branches have achieved significant increases, especially with the increase in tourism movement during Feasts.

He said that "the food court in many centers raised a sign (full number), during all days of the week and not only during weekends," stressing that "there is optimism about the continued growth of sales during the coming period."

In turn, the sales official in one of the fast food restaurants in the country, Yoon Jason, said, “The first semester vacation witnessed a significant growth in sales, reaching 40% in the branches in commercial centers in many emirates, especially Dubai, in addition to a 30% growth in Online delivery and ordering requests, supported by price cuts, holiday seasons and holidays, as many preferred not to travel, given the (Covid-19) pandemic.

He explained that "the greatest growth was in Dubai in particular, especially with the influx of tourists to celebrate the holidays in the emirate, and the extension of tourist visas for a month," referring to the crowding of food courts in commercial centers.

In the same context, Saida Ibrahim, an official in a restaurant in a commercial center in Abu Dhabi, said that “restaurants have witnessed an active and unusual movement at this time with the year, coinciding with the semester vacation, especially with families and individuals preferring not to travel due to the (Corona) pandemic, And increase the movement in malls, due to the sale campaigns, holiday seasons and end-of-year holidays.
