Like every end of the year, the Israeli army takes stock of its operations.

In a report released on December 31, Israel's military high command claims to have hit 500 enemy targets, including 50 that were in Syria.

The Jewish state rarely comments on its operations, which are considered secret.

From our correspondent in Jerusalem,

Israeli operations in Syria may be secret, but their objective is by no means confidential: it is to eradicate the Iranian presence, considered by the Jewish state as a real threat on its border.

Shiite militias, Iranian military advisers deployed in Syria: the Islamic Republic provides unfailing support to Bashar Al Assad's regime in its war against rebel groups and jihadist groups, indiscriminately qualified as “terrorists”.

50 Syrian targets bombed

Since 2011, and the start of the conflict in Syria, Israeli forces have stepped up foreign operations.

Hundreds of strikes have been carried out mainly against Iranian positions, both in northern Syria, near Aleppo, and around Damascus, the capital.

This year, in Syria, 50 targets were bombed.

More often than not, the official Syrian media report strikes against “

arms depots

 ”.

The Israeli army, for its part, does not reveal any details of its operations.

On his Twitter account, one of his spokespersons posted a promotional video extolling the effectiveness of an “

unbeatable

army

deployed on several fronts: from Gaza to Lebanon via Syria, to wage a war presented as "

Preventive

".
