"Economy": 432 cars and trucks recalled for "manufacturing defects"

The Ministry of Economy announced the start of recall campaigns involving 432 cars and trucks of the brands "Volvo", "Ram" and "Fuso", to correct manufacturing defects.

The ministry stated that the first recall campaign for safety reasons includes 413 Volvo S80 and Volvo S60 model years 2001-2003, in cooperation with "Commercial Enterprises", the local importer of Volvo cars in the country.

In a report issued yesterday, the «Economy» said that some cars included in the recall, and in rare cases when a collision occurs and the driver’s airbag is opened, parts of the air blower in the airbag may come out, and in the worst case, they collide with the driver, which may lead to Serious injury.

The ministry confirmed that “commercial enterprises” would initiate contact with the concerned dealers to inform them of the summons and bring their vehicles for repair, indicating that the driver’s airbag will be replaced free of charge without any fees.

The Ministry also announced the start of a recall campaign for safety reasons in the state market, including 16 trucks "Ram 2500 Pickup" model 2019 and 2020 manufactured in the United States, in cooperation with "Business Enterprises", the official distributor of Ram cars in the country.

The ministry explained that in some cars included in the recall, the trunk sill may fall under some side loading conditions, and the mounting brace may break, and cause the trunk sill to fall suddenly and unexpectedly during use.

The ministry added that "commercial enterprises" will contact dealers who own the aforementioned cars, in order to replace the mounting bracket for the tailgate sill for free.

In addition, the Ministry of Economy announced a third recall campaign that includes three "Fuso Canter Euro TF5" 2020 trucks manufactured in Japan, in cooperation with "Al Habtoor Motors Ltd.", the official agent for Mitsubishi Fuso trucks and buses in the country.

The Ministry attributed the campaign to the absence of a warning lamp in the airbag, pointing out that «Al Habtoor Motors» will communicate with all dealers who are owners of the affected cars, to coordinate the scheduling of immediate repair of their vehicles.
