Joko Winterscheidt has long been a well-known name away from the television screens.

For several years now, the TV presenter has been trying to gain a foothold in the start-up scene, either investing in young companies or co-founding them himself.

This is what happened last year, when Winterscheidt and Andy Weinzierl from Munich launched the e-bike start-up Sushi Bikes.

Now the 41-year-old wants to get started with another project.

As “Gründerszene” found out exclusively through the Startupdetector analysis service, Winterscheidt founded Schoko Winterscheidt GmbH at the end of September.

The aim of the company is "the trade and distribution of food, especially chocolate products", says the extract from the commercial register.

Specifically, “chocolate bars as a meal replacement” and “rice waffles with a chocolate coating” are to be marketed under the name Jokolade.

The moderator has already registered a corresponding word mark with the German Patent and Trademark Office.

Winterscheidt holds a total of 75 percent of the company through its holding company 8 Ventures.

Winterscheidt has brought top-class support from the start-up scene on board to found his food project.

As can also be seen in the commercial register, Max Wittrock, also known as the founder of Mymuesli, will take on a managing director position at Jokolade.

He also holds the remaining 25 percent of the shares.

When asked by “Gründerszene”, Winterscheidt's spokeswoman did not want to comment on the project.

Wittrock left Mymuesli in October 2019 after more than twelve years.

Little has been known about his future plans since then.

However, Wittrock took part in Joko Winterscheidt's e-bike start-up, so the two should know each other.

With Mymuesli, Wittrock built one of the most famous start-ups in Germany.

The idea of creating your own cornflakes mixes online and ordering them to your home became a national hit.

Even own stores followed.

Joko is waiting for success

TV presenter Winterscheidt is still waiting for such a success.

As early as 2015, he invested in the once hyped SMS start-up Gobutler, which is said to have had an offer to buy from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, as Winterscheidt once explained to “Gründerszene”.

However, the service was discontinued in 2018.

Further investments followed, including in the sock start-up Von Jungfeld and the gin brand Muscatel Gin.

It is not yet known when the new Jokolade project will officially be launched.
