The United Arab Emirates topped the first place in the Arab world in the Human Development Report 2020 issued by the United Nations Development Program, ahead of the global ranking by four places from last year's classification, to be ranked 31 globally out of 189 countries covered in the report.

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Emirates Competitiveness Council, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, said, “The UAE, as part of the national strategy to prepare for the next fifty, is pursuing an ambitious vision foreseeing the future, and consolidating the culture of excellence to be at the forefront of the world in competitiveness and at various levels, thanks to a vision and guidance Wise leadership, the UAE has proven day after day its leadership in the field of human development, by leading the Arab world for many years in a row in the Human Development Report, and progressing to the 31st position globally out of 189 countries covered by the report.

He added that «this progress made by the state in global competitiveness reports, came thanks to the successful policies pursued by the government of the UAE, as it was and is still based on developing human resources in the country and achieving the highest rates of development and growth in the fields of education, health and quality of life, aimed at achieving Sustainable development in all fields, in line with Vision 2021 and the UAE Centennial 2071 ».

For her part, Acting Director of the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, Hanan Mansour Ahli, said, “The UAE has been the first in the Arab world for several years, and is progressing globally year after year. The UAE, and the emphasis on supporting national skills and competencies to take their natural place in leading the march of renaissance and development, to ensure a promising and sustainable future for future generations.

According to the report, which came this year entitled “The Next Frontiers of Human and Human Development”, the state’s balance reached 0.890 degrees, ahead of last year by 0.024 degrees.
