• List: The best and worst bathroom cleaners according to the OCU

  • Consumption: The OCU warns of two hydroalcoholic gels manufactured in Spain

It comes

Christmas

and the celebrations, large binges family and friends.

One of those star dishes will undoubtedly be

prawns

, but are the ones they sell us in the supermarket of quality?

The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has made a list of the best and worst prawns.

In a study, they have compared the

frozen cooked prawns

of the best-known brands on the market through a laboratory study where different aspects have been evaluated.

Some of the criteria that have been taken into account have been the

freshness of the products

, the

composition

(salt content and additives), the

sizes

, the

number of defects

(if they correspond to what was announced, if there are broken pieces, visible ice , etc.),

hygiene

and the presence or absence of

residues

in the shrimp.

The best prawns

According to the OCU, there are some prawns that stand out for their characteristics and qualities.

The Organization believes that the best are the

El Corte Inglés prawns

, at 11.20 euros a kilo box, with 65 points out of 100, but the other three products that make it into the top 4 are the

Pescanova

Rodolfos

prawns

64 points out of 100),

Flete prawns

(from Aldi supermarket, 63 points out of 100), and

Ocean Sea prawns

(from Lidl supermarket, with 60 points out of 100).

However, the list continues with other products that, although they do not stand out, do approve:

  • DAY

    .

    Medium cooked Vannamei prawn.

    56 points.

  • Carrefour

    .

    Cooked shrimp.

    54 points.

  • Pescanova

    .

    Cooked shrimp.

    54 points.

  • Eroski basic

    .

    Cooked shrimp.

    53 points.

  • The Mermaid

    .

    Cooked vannamei prawn.

    52 points.

Costasur and Carrefour Vannamei, almost approved

Two other products fail, though only for one point.

Those two are the

Costasur prawns

(with 49 points out of 100) and the

large cooked

Vannamei prawns

, from Carrefour (again, with 49 points out of 100).

The mentioned prawns obtain insufficient quality and fail on basic issues.

The Costasur, for example, in the labeling and in the content of salt and additives (high).

The Carrefour Vannamei for their high salt content and flavor, as well as having a medium freshness.

Auchan, the worst prawn brand

There is a brand, however, that is wrong according to the study carried out by the OCU.

The Organization considers that the

Auchan prawns

, from Alcampo, are of

"poor quality"

and fail in the exam: 43 points out of 100. It is a product that obtains, the statement says, "insufficient quality or is unsafe."

It has a "high sulfite content" and the tasting fails with two stars out of five.
