French football announced on Friday that it was going to separate from its main broadcaster, the Mediapro group, which owns the Téléfoot channel.

For subscribers, this is a big disappointment and many are already wondering how to react.

Europe 1 takes stock of the follow-up to be given to your subscription depending on what may happen.

DECRYPTION

The Professional Football League (LFP) recorded on the night of Thursday to Friday the end of the contract with the main broadcaster of Ligue 1, the Mediapro group.

If the memorandum of understanding must still receive the green light, between December 17 and 22, from the commercial court of Nanterre, this announcement sounds the death knell for the Téléfoot channel.

Created by the Catalan group this summer, the chain indicated that it will continue to broadcast the French football championship "at least until December 23".

It is even ready to broadcast until January 31, 2021, pending future broadcasters.

But on the side of the 600,000 subscribers claimed by the channel, the disappointment is great.

And many are wondering what else they can get from their subscription.

From reimbursement ...

"I'm waiting to see how it actually goes for the termination and, possibly, if we are entitled to a refund or something like that", laments Thomas, Saturday, at the microphone of Europe 1. What to do in these conditions?

First of all, if the channel stops broadcasting altogether, the situation is prescribed by law.

The deadlines can be suspended and a refund can be obtained.

… to the court

On the other hand, if Téléfoot loses Ligue 1 but continues to broadcast certain programs, it will probably be necessary to go through the court for a subscriber wanting to be reimbursed.

He will then have a good chance of winning his case.

Finally, a more complicated but very frequent case represents several hundreds of thousands of subscribers.

These are all those people who have Téléfoot thanks to a bundled offer from their Internet operator: Téléfoot with Netflix and Canal + with a box offer for example.

In this case, a legal procedure would be extremely long and complex.

The subscriber will therefore have every interest in getting closer to his Internet provider and negotiating a discount or a commercial gesture.
