Regarding the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Tsuruga, the verification committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has proposed that the opening of the line will be delayed by about one year and the additional project cost will be reduced by more than 22 billion yen to about 265.8 billion yen.



Regarding this, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Akabane said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, "It is regrettable that the construction period was delayed and the construction cost increased while the local expectations for the early opening of the Shinkansen were very high." On that basis, regarding how to secure the financial resources for the increased project cost, "I would like to promptly consider it in the budget formulation process while listening to the opinions of the locals.
