One household and one homeowner who is 60 years of age or older or has owned a house for five years or more will receive a tax deduction of up to 70% this year and 80% next year when paying the comprehensive real estate tax.



However, in the case of a joint name, this deduction standard did not apply.



Instead, KRW 900 million was deducted from a total of KRW 1.2 billion by applying an official price of KRW 600 million per person.



However, the situation has changed as housing prices exceeding 1.2 billion won have increased due to the surge in house prices.



The number of households under the joint name of the couple, who are required to pay the new tax tax, has increased rapidly, but there have been complaints about the elderly and the lack of long-term retention deductions.



As criticism came out against the trend of increasing women's property rights by avoiding the common name, the opposition parties decided to apply a deduction for senior citizens and long-term holdings to households that own one house under the joint name of a couple.



The National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee voted on an amendment to the final tax law at a plenary meeting last night.



As in the current situation, we have the option of paying tax on the amount exceeding the official price of 1.2 billion won, or paying tax in excess of 900 million won, like one household and one homeowner, and receiving deductions for the elderly and long-term retention.



If this law comes into force, the tax for senior citizens who have long-term ownership of one high-priced house under the common name could be reduced by up to 80% from next year.



It is expected that the tax base for the taxation of the tax for one household and one house under a single name will be maintained at the official price of 900 million won.
