Green onion prices increase before the Spring Festival, the supply is tight

The reporter's survey in Dasang Village, Ningjiabu Street, Jinan's largest green onion trading center, found that the local wholesale price of ordinary green onions per catty has tripled recently.

The price of hard-core scallions in Xinye, another major green onion producing area, is about 1.45 yuan per catty, an increase of 0.8 yuan per catty compared to late August, an increase of 123.08%.

The price increase of ginger is not small.
Anqiu, Shandong is the county with the largest area of ginger planting in the country.
Recently, the reporter found during an interview at a convenience market in Shibei District that there are only two retail ginger stalls in the huge market.
The Laiwu district of Jinan is another major production area of Shandong ginger, and nearly 500,000 tons of ginger are produced here every year.
There are 1,230 people in Xiliu Village where Jiang Ailing is located, and almost every household grows ginger.
Jiang Ailing told reporters that the wholesale price of ginger per catty in 2018 was about two or three yuan, last year it was 3 to 5 yuan, and this year, the price of ginger per catty once rose to 8.5 yuan.
Jiang Ailing, a villager from Xiliu Village, Yangli Street, Laiwu District, Jinan City, Shandong: I planted more than 5 mu of ginger this year. The yield per mu of land can be 10,000 catties. The conservative price is 5 yuan per catty, and the income can be more than 50,000 yuan.
Jiang Ailing told reporters that the ginger sold in the industry is divided into two categories: fresh ginger and old ginger.
Since the fresh ginger produced in the past has a weak taste and the price is nearly half cheaper than that of old ginger, ginger farmers are accustomed to storing fresh ginger for several months before selling.
At present, the ginger purchased by wholesalers is basically the old ginger from last year. Due to drought, rain and waterlogging in the ginger producing areas across the country last year, the overall ginger production in 2019 decreased, and the fresh ginger harvested this year needs to be stored until the Spring Festival. And the next year can only be sold.
Therefore, the current ginger market is at a time when the ginger is not available, so the price has been raised.
According to data provided by the China Vegetable Circulation Association, due to the fact that most of the ginger production areas did not increase last year, and the yield per unit area decreased due to diseases and natural disasters, the price of fine washed ginger has increased from The catty was less than 7 yuan, which rose to nearly 11 yuan in early November. Compared with the same period last year, the average price of fine washed ginger was about 3.84 yuan per catty, a year-on-year increase of about 147.40%.
The price of ginger will also remain high in the short term.
