Tesla boss Elon Musk has the ambition to design a new model more suited to the European market.
This is what he revealed on Tuesday, November 24, at a press conference organized online by the German government about the batteries of its electric vehicles, reports Reuters.
This idea germinated in Elon Musk's head after a stay in Berlin, Germany, during which he encountered difficulties in finding a parking space for his Tesla Model X. It is indeed 5 meters long. .
"In the United States, cars tend to be larger for reasons of personal taste, in Europe they tend to be smaller," said the boss of the American manufacturer.
With European designers and engineers
He therefore said he could produce a more compact vehicle than those currently offered by Tesla, but with five doors and an affordable price.
This car could be designed and manufactured in Europe.
“There are a lot of talented designers and engineers in Europe (…) and they won't want to settle for a European version developed in California,” said Elon Musk.
The latter also said he was "excited to make original designs in Europe".
With this type of initiative, Tesla hopes to relaunch in the race which opposes it to its main competitors in Europe, namely Volkswagen, Renault but also the PSA group.
