Dnata, one of the world's largest air service providers, has made a milestone in its sustainability journey, becoming the first company to successfully introduce “full green ground handling” in the United States.

Dnata has ensured smooth and safe handling on the arrival and departure flights of the Airbus A320, belonging to the Mexican company Viva Aerobuss, in Terminal 1 of the New York JFK airport, using green ground support equipment that does not produce any Carbon emissions.

During green handling, the dnata team transported luggage to the plane with electrically powered tractors, and used electric conveyor belts to unload and load the luggage and cargo.

Dnata's experienced employees pushed the plane back from the gate using an electric push tractor, in preparation for its movement on the airport grounds and later take off.

“We are pleased to achieve this milestone, by using only environmentally friendly equipment, to provide a seamless airport experience for passengers, and to ensure the safe and timely departure of our customers’ flights, ”said David Parker, Executive Director of Dnata USA.

We are committed to converting our fleet in the United States into electrical equipment to preserve the environment, and we continue to invest in infrastructure and equipment to improve operational efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint.

In accordance with our professional and social responsibilities, we continue to enhance our operations to provide the highest possible value to our partners and customers. ”

Viva Aerobus CEO, Juan Carlos Zuazua said: “We are delighted to be part of an innovation that puts environmental protection at its core.

There is no doubt that (dnata) is a leading global company committed to our planet, and our work with it represents another step as a green carrier, because our operations result in the lowest emissions of carbon dioxide for every passenger in Mexico, and we are also the first carrier to recycle airline waste.

We are fully convinced that sustainability should be at the heart of air transport operations. ”
