Mercedes Geely -

DR

Both automotive groups see efficient transmission technologies as a critical part of the ongoing transformation of the automotive industry, and will accelerate the transition to emission-free driving.

They will use global R&D networks to work together on a next-generation gasoline engine specific for hybrid applications to be produced at company powertrain facilities in Europe and China.

Mercedes Class A - DR

This engine could be used by Mercedes with its partners in China, as well as by Geely's portfolio of brands at large, which includes Volvo Cars and Lotus.

To this end, exporting the engine from China is being considered as an option.

These groups are already used to working together, since Geely owns half of the shares of Smart.
