China's Railway Poverty Alleviation Contributions to 51 Railway-designated Poverty Villages Get Rid of Poverty on Schedule

  China News Service, Beijing, November 18 (Reporter Zhou Yin) The reporter learned from the China State Council Information Office's meeting with Chinese and foreign journalists in Beijing on the 18th that up to now, China National Railway Corporation has designated four counties and districts for poverty alleviation. The 51 railway designated poverty-stricken villages deployed by the provincial party committee and government were lifted out of poverty as scheduled.

  The reporter learned that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, 14 concentrated, contiguous, poverty-stricken areas, old and young, have completed a total of 3.3 trillion yuan in railway infrastructure investment (RMB, the same below), accounting for 78% of the total railway infrastructure investment; 36,000 new lines have been put into operation Kilometers (20,000 kilometers of high-speed rail), accounting for 83% of the new lines put into operation in the country.

These newly commissioned railways cover 274 national-level poverty-stricken counties, of which more than 100 national-level poverty-stricken counties have ended the history of no railways.

  While improving the railway network in poverty-stricken areas, the railway department also plans to promote the construction of trackless stations to help poor areas integrate into the "high-speed rail economic circle" and open up the "first and last mile" of people's travel and logistics.

At present, the railway network and 154 trackless stations on the whole road cover about 600 national-level poverty-stricken counties, accounting for 73% of the country's 832 poverty-stricken counties.

  In the battle against poverty, the railway sector innovated the poverty alleviation model of transportation, "slow trains" paved the way to prosperity, eliminated "intestinal obstruction" and unblocked the industrial chain.

In terms of passenger transportation, the railway department continued to operate 81 pairs of non-profit “slow trains” passing through 21 provinces and regions and 35 ethnic minority areas to create a mobile “people-benefiting and agricultural train bazaar” and service brand. There are more than 22 million poor people who work and study; fully tap the tourism resources in poverty-stricken areas. In 2019, 594 trains of tourism poverty alleviation were organized to transport 376,000 passengers, which effectively promoted the development and consumption upgrade of tourism, commerce, catering and other industries along the route.

  Statistics show that from 2013 to 2020, the railway department has implemented 684 targeted poverty alleviation projects in 4 counties and districts, benefiting more than 200,000 poor people.

At the same time, the railway department innovatively implemented the "Five Consumer Poverty Alleviation Actions", and online and offline integration helped promote the docking of production and sales.

Since 2018, the railway department has cumulatively purchased and sold agricultural special products of approximately 800 million yuan, doubling for three consecutive years.
