The Dow rose 1.60%, setting a record closing record high, the Nasdaq rose 0.80%, and the S&P 500 rose 1.16%.

  As of the close, the Dow closed up 470.63 points, or 1.60%, to 29950.44 points; the Nasdaq closed up 94.84 points, or 0.80%, to 11924.13 points; the S&P 500 index closed up 41.76 points, or 1.16%, to 3,626.91 points.

  Most of the major technology stocks in US stocks closed up. Apple rose 0.87%, Amazon rose 0.07%, Netflix fell 0.77%, Google rose 0.1%, Facebook rose 0.73%, and Microsoft rose 0.33%.

  US banking stocks rose collectively. JPMorgan Chase rose 2.89%, Goldman Sachs rose 1.49%, Citigroup rose 3.59%, Morgan Stanley rose 2.67%, Bank of America rose 2.22%, and Wells Fargo rose 3.53%.

  US energy stocks rose collectively. Exxon Mobil rose 5.76%, Chevron rose 7.12%, ConocoPhillips rose 7.78%, Schlumberger rose 11.33%, and Occidental Petroleum rose 7.67%.

  US aviation stocks collectively rose, Boeing rose 8.19%, American Airlines rose 4.49%, Delta Air Lines rose 4.22%, Southwest Airlines rose 3.9%, United Airlines rose 5.16%.

  In terms of popular Chinese concept stocks, e-commerce stocks fell while new energy auto stocks rose.

Alibaba fell 0.97%, JD fell 7.41%, Pinduoduo fell 6.12%; Tuniu rose 28.85%, Ideal Motors rose 13.94%, Kangdi Motors rose 11.08%, Xiaopeng Motors rose 4.52%, and Weilai Motors rose 2.29% ; Eggshell Apartments fell 8.61%.

  In European stock markets, the three major European stock indexes rose across the board on the 16th.

The London Stock Market "Financial Times" average price index of 100 stocks closed on the 16th at 6421.29 points, an increase of 1.66%; France's Paris stock market CAC40 index closed at 5471.48 points, an increase of 1.70%; Germany Frankfurt stock market DAX index closed at 13138.61 Points, an increase of 0.47%.

  New York oil prices rose significantly on the 16th. The price of New York light crude oil futures for delivery in December rose by US$1.21 to close at US$41.34 per barrel.
