This year with the confinement and the boom in online sales, the number of parcels managed by La Poste is exploding.

“Over the November-December period, we will have overall traffic that will be greater than 100 million parcels in France.

By comparison, we were at 80 million last year ”, explains to France Bleu, François Laborde, regional delegate of the group in Ile-de-France.

To cope with this increase, the group has decided to recruit 9,000 fixed-term contracts and temporary workers across France over several months, including 800 in Ile-de-France where La Poste has already opened two new platforms north and south of Paris.

Insufficient for unions

If the number of recruitments for this holiday season has doubled compared to last year, some unions, such as SUD PTT, believe that this is not enough, reports franceinfo.

According to them, it would actually take 20,000 reinforcements and the opening of new temporary premises to manage this influx of packages, while respecting the health protocol.
