This key port project, which is included in the national development strategy, is in full swing. At present, the first phase of the project has completed five 5,000-ton multi-purpose berths, with a design throughput of 1.75 million tons per year and 450,000 TEU containers per year.
The project construction is expected to be completed in 2022.
Wanzhou, Chongqing has an outstanding location and convenient transportation. It is a place that connects the river to the sea. The golden waterway of the Yangtze River runs through the entire territory and is the shipping center of the Three Gorges Reservoir area.

The Xintian Hub Port with a total investment of 8 billion yuan is a key port project included in Chongqing’s national development strategy. It is also an important customs clearance port in Chongqing’s 14th Five-Year Plan, a service platform for the supply chain of the southwestern manufacturing industry, and regional bulk logistics. Xintian Hub Port is located in Wuxi Village, Xintian Town, Wanzhou District, with a distance of 350 kilometers from Yichang Channel and a coastline of 5,200 meters. 19 5000-ton berths are planned, including 10 multi-purpose berths, 8 bulk cargo berths and large cargo There is one berth. It is predicted that by 2030, the port throughput will reach 35 million tons and the port throughput capacity will reach 40 million tons.
The project covers a total area of 452 hectares, including 147 hectares for the wharf and 305 hectares for the rear logistics park.
The Xintian hub port project will be constructed in three phases.
Among them, the first phase plans to invest 2.315 billion yuan, and the currently planned five 5,000-ton multi-purpose berths are all completed; the second phase of the project plans to build four 5,000-ton bulk cargo berths and supporting facilities, with a designed throughput of 1,400 tons of bulk cargo per year. The estimated investment is about 1.4 billion yuan.
The reporter learned that Wanzhou Port is one of the three major hub ports in Chongqing. The Anziba Passenger Transport Center has been built, the Hongxigou, Tongziyuan, and Xintian Port Phase I "one passenger, seven cargo" operation areas, and 57 berths have been built. The largest single-piece hoisting capacity of port machinery is 50 tons, the annual handling capacity of port cargo is 32 million tons, the annual passenger handling capacity is 8 million, and the annual container handling capacity is 250,000 TEU.
At present, Wanzhou Port Area is accelerating the formation of an export-oriented service hub port with Xintian Port as the main port, and Wanzhou's status as a shipping center in the Three Gorges Reservoir area is becoming increasingly prominent.
