90% of UAE residents will change their travel habits after "Corona"

A new survey conducted by Inmarsat, which specializes in mobile satellite communication services, showed that 90% of the UAE population (9 out of 10 residents or citizens) will change their habits and routines regarding air travel after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Passenger Confidence Tracker is the largest global survey of air travelers since the outbreak of the new Corona virus, and reflects the views and behaviors of 9,500 participants from 12 countries around the world regarding the future of air travel, among them more than 500 passengers in the UAE. .

The survey indicated that travelers in the UAE are motivated to return to travel by air in the near future, but they will be more confident if certain procedures are implemented during their travel and on board aircraft.

According to the results of the survey, many other factors preoccupy travelers in the Emirates, including confidence in airlines, as more than a quarter of the respondents said that they would travel only with the airlines they trust, while more than half of the passengers (52%) considered that the reputation of companies Aviation is now a more important factor than it was before the pandemic, when choosing which airline to fly.

These reasons explain why 32% of respondents in the Emirates express their tendency to reduce air travel, and the same matter is repeated at the global level, where a third of the global participants (31%) said that they plan to travel by air less than usual, while four out of 10 international travelers expect (41%) to travel less overall, regardless of the mode of transportation.

While air travel is expected to decrease in the short and medium term, travelers in the UAE are more likely to travel during the pandemic than their global counterparts, as nearly half of the participants (46%) took at least one flight - the third highest after India and the United States.

Neil Faulkner, Regional Vice President for Aviation Affairs at Inmarsat for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, said, "The survey results indicate a significant change in travel behavior, which will often change the shape of the aviation sector in the long run."
