Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has signed a major partnership agreement with the United Arab Emirates Football Association, which was officially announced during a signing ceremony at the Football Association headquarters in Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of the Emirates Football Association And CEO of Etihad Aviation Group Tony Douglas, and Chief Operating Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Bulooki, as well as the Board of Directors of the Emirates Football Association, Secretary General of the Football Association Mohammed Abdullah Hazzam Al Dhaheri, and representatives of the media in the country.
Under the multi-year agreement, Etihad Airways will become an official sponsor of Emirati football, including the first team, the Olympic team and the youth teams.
Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of the United Arab Emirates Football Association, thanked the rational leadership for its continuous support for sports, stressing that the leadership's support made the UAE the capital of global sport and provided an opportunity for the sons and daughters of the country to play various games, and this support also contributed to building world-class sports facilities that enabled UAE sports institutions have hosted the largest international events during the past decades.
Sheikh Rashid praised the great support provided by Etihad Airways to sports, and to the popular game in particular, stressing that this pioneering national company plays a major role in supporting sports locally and abroad because of its management's belief in the importance of sporting activity in peoples' lives.
He also stressed that the sponsorship of Etihad Airways for Emirati football at this time helps the implementation of programs to develop national teams and enables the family of the popular game in the country to continue its work and achieve its administrative and technical goals, praising the clear role of Etihad Airways in supporting society.
